Storm & Drag: Walking (2/3/19)

PHILZ & Arendt. My new weekend route that takes me down to the Belmont Pier. Caught a little rain and stepped in more than one of Nature's makeshift rivulets. ***

Walking: Before the Rain

Image
PHILZ. Finished Oz's Judas and only scratched my next stop: John Hawkes' Travesty . Not sure about the text I only tasted: so-so thus far. But I liked the epigraphic quote from Camus' Fall : You see, a person I knew used to divide human beings into three categories: those who prefer having nothing to hide rather than being obliged to lie, those who prefer lying to having nothing to hide, and finally those who like both lying and the hidden. I'll let you choose the pigeonhole that suits me. *** Fantastic light this morning: rosy highlights in the Heights, downtown awash in the white light of a rising sun.

Singing in the Rain

Image
Sure the clouds were gray to black, but this is Southern California. I stopped under a big leafy tree to wait it out (the first significant rain of the season?), took a few pics, and then hoofed it home with a little protection (windbreaker more than raincoat -- but hooded). The ducks were beelining it to the bank for cover, a leaf  (hanging on a thread or caught in the wind?) took forever to fall. *

Walking: 2.20.17

More like Bucking. With a short walk (beneath dripping sky) thrown in. Walked past a dripping Gaytonia and to the top of her favorite street: St. Joseph. Couldn't sea to the ocean, because of the gray, but with the giraffish palms in the distance I could imagine it. *

Call it a miracle or just climate change, it was a wonderful experience...
