Cannon Beach, OR

Our afternoon in Cannon Beach was spent walking to the haystack (supposedly the largest on the Oregon coast) and eating some seafood (we listened to the gentleman at the tourist office and were semi-happy with the results). Low tide and lots of sun.

Astoria: A Few More Pics

Astoria: Coffee Girl

They were closed for a winter break last year (actually: beginning of 2014). This year I got in: twice. The second morning I had it all to myself. The girl behind the Xmas tree is apparently one of the last surviving "coffee girls" (according to the plaque, she retired in 1960). Great place to have coffee and read. Great place to watch the sleeping (sometimes waking) ships.

Forgot the Puget Island Ferry

To get to Astoria, we pretty much took the GPS's suggestion (north into WA and then along the Columbia), save for one deviation: the ferry from Puget Island to Oregon.

Astoria: Pier 39

Astoria: The Liberty Theatre

Astoria: Astoria-Megler Bridge

Forgot Powell's (Portland)

We spent a good hour or so here (we'd been once long ago). I spent a little time in LIT and POETRY. The girls went from room to room. It was raining even harder when we finally exited.

Voodoo Donuts (Portland)

The girls insisted (again). We hit Voodoo on the way out in the morning.

Fremont Bridge (Portland)

Same winter escape as last year (Portland and Astoria) with one addition: Cannon Beach. We stayed one night (near Nob Hill) before driving to Astoria.
